Now Is The Time

My pain story is very personal to me, almost sacred. I think most people in pain would feel the same. However, staying quiet about your struggles is not always the best idea. Speaking out and finding your voice can be daunting to say the least.

But, now is the time. Time for me and time for you to truly advocate for ourselves. Ive been living in and with pain since 1995, since I was 22. I’m 46, so its way past time to talk about this for awareness.

I recently began volunteering with The Us Pain Foundation. I am going full force with this. I need to. September is Pain Awareness Month. So one of the ways I was able to get the message out was working with my town on a proclamation. I am proud to report the proclamation was approved and last night I was awarded the proclamation declaring September as Pain Awareness Month in my town of Toms River, NJ.

For the first time, i felt like I made at least a bit of difference. I was able to say a few words about myself and the foundation. Talking to a group of strangers about my struggles was extremely emotional. I’m also proud to say it was liberating. A weight had been lifted off my chest. I knew now I can contribute to this conversation and hope to Draw others in as well.

Now is the time to get involved in some way, shape, or form. It is possible!
